Ballwin May 19th meeting agenda

Residents of Ballwin, on May 19th the Board of Aldermen will be holding a work session to discuss future finances and services. The meeting will be at the board room at the police station in Vlasis Park at 7:00 p.m.. The following is a brief outline of some of the topics that will be discussed at this meeting.

REVENUE

---increase utility tax at board level

---put prop B back on ballot

---1/4 cent sales tax for streets

---increase utility tax at board level with agreement to roll back if prop B passes in the future

---contracting services to other cities (for example, dispatching services)

---fee based program possibilities

EXPENSES

---personnel review

---leaves and brush pick-up

-- mosquito and goose control

---streetlights

---other services or department reductions

---cost sharing with other cities

---leasing/renting vs owning

---doing work ourselves vs contracting it out

This meeting will be open to the public. I invite all to come and listen to the discussions that take place. Last year, Mayor Young proposed that the board raise the utility tax without getting voter approval first. I was opposed to this and believe all tax increases should have voter approval first. I believe that the residents showed to the board that they do not want to pay more taxes with the failure of Prop B in April. There have been many ideas briefly discussed but I anticipate more discussion on these issues at this meeting. If you are unable to attend this meeting, feel free to e-mail me with any thoughts or concerns so that I can best represent the community. Thank you for your time and I hope to see you on May 19th.

Tim Pogue Alderman of Ballwin Ward 1
